How to do water manicure at home. Water manicure at home How to make water varnish at home

Water manicure is one of the most unusual. Unpretentious stains with multi-colored nail polishes look very impressive. Such a manicure can be done both for every day (especially in summer) and for a holiday (combining the appropriate shades of varnish). It is also interesting that each nail can get its own, unique pattern. How to make a water manicure at home and why it doesn’t work - read this article.

How to make a water manicure at home

The effect of blurry waves on the nails in a water manicure is very simple. As the name suggests, water takes an active part in creating such beauty.

So, to make a water manicure at home, you will need:

- multi-colored varnishes (you can take a variety of shades that contrast with each other, the number of varnishes - from 2);

- a small container with water;

- a toothpick or other thin stick to create a pattern on the surface of the water;

- another stick in order to remove excess varnish from the finger in the water;

- paper or ordinary adhesive tape, cuticle protection agent (PVA glue or fat cream, oil) - to protect the cuticle from varnish;

- fixing varnish.

Stages of water manicure

1. Prepare your nails by removing the remains of the previous varnish from their surface. Take care of the skin around the nails, lubricate it with cream, oil, apply a special product or PVA glue. This is done to make it much easier for you to clean the skin of excess varnish afterwards.

2. Pour water into the prepared container.

3. Drop one varnish on the water, after a couple of seconds it should spread over its surface. In the middle of the first layer of varnish on the water, drop the second varnish, wait until it spreads. In the middle of the second layer - the third, and so repeat as much as you want. A good drawing is already obtained from 5 drops.

4. Use a toothpick, quickly make stains from the varnish on the water. It can be flowers, stars or any other patterns:

Make sure that varnish does not accumulate on the toothpick, otherwise it can pull the whole drawing along with it, collect it with an “accordion”. After each movement, remove its excess with a cotton pad or napkin. Do not immerse the toothpick deep into the water either, work with its tip.

To make a water manicure work, you need to take fresh liquid varnishes that will easily spread over the water, creating beautiful patterns. Quick-drying varnishes are also not suitable.

Water for water manicure, based on my experience, should be warm. From cold water, the varnish will dry quickly, without giving you time to create the necessary pattern with a toothpick. On hot water, water manicure does not work either.

5. Dip your finger into the water (right on the nail polish pattern) with your fingernail down. In the water, collect the rest of the pattern around your finger with a toothpick or other stick.

To protect the cuticle from varnish, and to make the manicure itself more accurate, use adhesive tape. Wrap it around the skin around your nails so you don't have to wash off the nail polish later. If there is no adhesive tape, use PVA glue (wait until it dries completely, turning into a translucent film), fat cream or oil. Today, by the way, special products are sold that protect the cuticle from varnish when creating a water manicure, a gradient manicure, or when using it.

6. Pull your nail out of the water.

You should have this look at this stage:

Another secret of water manicure: use a narrow but deep container for water. So the consumption of varnish will be more economical.

7. Without touching the nail, remove the cuticle protection (adhesive tape, film from glue or a special agent). With a cotton swab or a thin, angled nail brush, wipe off any remaining polish from the skin. After drying this layer, you can use a fixing varnish. Repeat these steps with all nails.

You can even do a water manicure:

Why does water manicure fail?

Of course, water manicure has a lot benefits:

- water manicure at home - a great alternative to the salon;

- ease of technique for creating a wide variety of patterns;

- a wide field for imagination.

Disadvantages of water manicure that I can highlight:

- it takes a lot of time to create the perfect water manicure;

- high consumption of materials;

- At the same time, you can do a manicure on only one nail.

Why does water manicure fail? The reasons may be different

Problem: do not spread droplets of varnish in water.

Possible reason: You have chosen dry, thick, stale polishes that dry quickly on water.

Problem: varnishes on water dry quickly, which is why there is not enough time to create a pattern and transfer it to the nail.

Possible reason: you may be using too cold water.

Problem: it is not possible to make a clear pattern, the lines are blurry or overlap one another.

Possible reason: Do you wipe the toothpick after each line on the pattern? Work with the tip of the toothpick, do not dip it deep into the water.

Problem: The pattern is smeared on the nail.

Possible reason: You're pulling your finger out of the water too quickly, or you're not picking up all the nail polish residue around the nail with the stick.

Remember, water manicure requires perseverance, speed of movement, perfect consistency of varnishes and water temperature. If something doesn't work for you, check all these components. Do not be discouraged if the water manicure does not work the first and even the third time. Only through trials and experiments did this type of manicure succumb to me!

Manicure water video

To finally understand all the secrets of water manicure, I suggest you watch this video:

Experiment and be beautiful!

Water manicure (it is also known as marble) for the inexperienced in nail design may seem like a creation of a real artist, on nails it is a very interesting idea, it gives the impression of a professional and expensive one.

At first glance, it seems that it is extremely difficult to perform it, but it is not. Any girl with little effort can learn how to make it for herself at home with a minimum of equipment.

It will be cheaper than going to the salon and you do not even have to leave the house. If it does not work out on the first try, do not despair, training is needed in this matter. But having learned, you will begin to receive a lot of compliments.

  • water in any vessel, a small volume is welcome;
  • set of nail polishes: base coat, top coat, colored polishes. The latter need at least two, preferably more, so the drawing will look more intricate and diverse;
  • high-fat cream, cuticle oil or tape;
  • stick with a sharp tip (a toothpick, skewer or needle will do);
  • nail polish remover;

What should I pay attention to when performing a water manicure?

  • Water: it must be strictly room temperature, since the varnish will harden in cold water, turn into a hard crust and you will not be able to apply it on your nails. Hot water, on the contrary, will make the varnish even more liquid and make it difficult to apply;
  • varnish: varnishes are suitable for the procedure only liquid consistency, no need to use old, viscous products. It is also necessary to exclude gel polish, it is too dense for these manipulations;
  • after each nail peel the wand, with which you made patterns, to prevent smearing of patterns in the next step. Drive on the water surface with varnishes must be strictly tip, do not dip the toothpick too deep;
  • So that the pattern does not smear on the nail, hold your finger in the water for some time, preferably making fewer movements, and only then gently lift;
  • When you dip your finger in water varnish residue on the water surface delete, you can again with a toothpick. This is easy to do and will help you not to spoil the pattern on the next nail in the future;
  • The water tank must be not too big not to waste too much polish, but also not little so that you can lower your finger without touching the edges of the vessel, otherwise you will not achieve an even pattern;
  • This manicure has no restrictions on nail length, it can be performed even on a short nail plate;
  • Before the drawing procedure, you should do a manicure familiar to you in order to remove or push back the cuticle, otherwise the pattern on groomed nails will look sloppy;
  • Do not forget to apply in the final top coat, so your drawing will last longer without chips, the entire surface of the nail will look even and acquire a mirror shine;

Now you are aware of all the nuances of water manicure, it's time to proceed directly to practice.

Water manicure technique

Stage 1:

Prepare all the tools and tools mentioned in the first part of the article. Pour water into a bowl as close to the edges as possible so that it is more convenient to lower the nail evenly. Take the first colored polish and, holding the brush fairly close to the surface of the water, put the first drop. If the varnish is chosen correctly, this drop should begin to spread. Next, take a varnish of a different color and follow the same procedure with it: make another drop over the center of the existing circle of varnish.

You can stop at a two-tone pattern, or you can continue to layer shades, so the pattern will combine a whole rainbow of colors and delight you with its brightness.

So, multi-colored circles will appear before you, from which you can make a beautiful marble drawing according to your taste and desire, the line in it will be intertwined with the line. Take a stick with a thin, sharp tip and carefully drive over the varnish spots, without dipping it too deep. You can also learn more about pattern design options below.

Stage 2:

Work on your fingers and nails. The drawing should be only on the nail, but since you need to immerse your finger halfway, the entire space adjacent to the nail will be stained in the varnish. To make it easier later remove cuticle polish and from the skin of the fingers, everything that is around the nail plate needs to be lubricated cream, but without going over the nail itself, otherwise your pattern will not be fixed.

Another way is to seal everything around the nail tape, but since the open areas will still remain without cream, you still can’t do without it.

Pay attention to all fingers at once, as later with wet varnish you will not be able to glue the others without damaging your design.

In the modern world, there is another tool that can facilitate the manicure procedure at home, which is usually sold in stores specializing in varnishes.

It is a substance that looks like glue, it is applied near the nail, and after hardening it can be removed by pulling like a film. All the varnish that has crawled out of the borders will remain on it, and the manicure will look neat and even.

But such a tool requires additional material investments, so you can save money and get by with the techniques indicated above.

Stage 3:

After all the preparations, it's time to transfer the pattern to the nail. The finger is placed with the nail down and directly above the center of the drawing on the water, parallel to it. finger neat descends into the water and lingers there for a while, so that the drawing grabs better. At this time, with a stick, you need to collect all the varnish remaining on the surface of the water.

After these steps, the finger can be pulled out. Do not be discouraged if the first time did not work out, later you will learn how to do it quickly and deftly.

Stage 4:

Next you need clear all space around the nail. Peel off the tape if you use it, and if you used a cream or oil, then the varnish can be easily wiped off with a cotton swab or cotton pad.

Stage 5:

Anchoring work done. Wait for the final solidification of the pattern, apply a transparent varnish or a special top coat on top. It will extend the wearing time of your manicure without chipping. Cuticles can be moisturized with oil or cream.

Original ideas for water manicure

Combinations of colors and textures

If you are a lover soothing colors, do not like the abundance of drawings and think that marble manicure should always be bright, flashy, and therefore avoid it, then do not rush to conclusions.

You can create such a composition of shades that even in a strict setting will look appropriate.

Take white varnish as a basis and alternate it with pastel colors, for example, soft pink, mint, light yellow, gray, lilac. On the water, it will look like this: a drop of white varnish, a drop of color, a drop of white, and so on.

black and white traditional manicure is also always at the height of fashion. You can even achieve a zebra effect if you like animalistic patterns.

Berry Burst: mix bright, delicious shades such as raspberry, cherry, lingonberry, plum. Just try not to have similar colors next to each other so that they do not merge with each other, create a contrast.

Violet fragrance: shades of purple are interesting in combination with each other, you can even create a kind of gradient from light to dark or use only two colors - light lilac and deep purple.

Beach manicure: the composition of yellow, blue and orange will always remind you of summer.

Concerning textures, it always looks interesting to use both glossy and mother-of-pearl particles, a special volume is given to the nail. You can also use homogeneous ones, this is more traditional.

Do not be afraid to use glitter, but do not overdo it so as not to make a bright manicure vulgar.

Pattern options

Drawing with a toothpick on a varnish surface on water, you can achieve completely unique patterns.

Do not be afraid to slide the toothpick in different directions, creating intricate weaves of lines.

But you need to do this quickly enough so that the varnish does not freeze.

There are also several common patterns.

Flower : on the resulting circle of multi-colored varnishes, straight lines are drawn from the edges to the center with a toothpick. Do not connect them to each other. Make four lines first, you should get four petals. Then continue to draw the petals in the same way.

Zigzags : Use a toothpick to draw a line dividing the circle in half. Then, from the bottom edge, begin to make zigzag movements to the right - to the left, moving to the top edge. You will get one zigzag. You can speed them up by drawing another one on top in the other direction. But remember that you need to draw quickly so that the varnish does not freeze.

stripes : Place a toothpick in the center and draw a line to the left. Pull out, again from the center, draw a line to the right. Then, from the right edge, start drawing lines from top to bottom and from bottom to top, moving to the left. When you then dip the nail into the center, stripes form on it.

The options for patterns on nails are endless, perhaps on each nail they will be different for you, but this is the beauty of water manicure. You can get interesting drawings that others will be interested to look at. Practice and you will succeed.

For a modern woman, taking care of her appearance is very important. Not the last place in this process is the beauty of nails. Girls with a neat, beautiful manicure feel much more confident. And if the design is also original, moreover, made independently, then it acquires a double value.

Manicure on the water: the main advantages of design

Today, salons offer various types of hand beauty care, and one of them is water manicure. At first glance, it seems that it is impossible to make it at home. In fact, there is nothing complicated in it! See for yourself by reading our article.

It is worth highlighting some of the advantages that water manicure has:
he looks beautiful and unusual. Has contrasting lines, reminiscent of delicious;
has many combinations of colors and patterns;
you can easily do it yourself;
this is one of the basic ones;
you can come up with a unique design for yourself and create it with a few simple brush strokes on the water;
it is possible (and even recommended) to use cheap low-quality varnishes;
can be decorated with sequins and rhinestones.
So, it's time to learn this interesting manicure technique.

Making a manicure: water + varnish

For a water manicure, you don't need anything special - you have all these items at home or you can easily get them. Before doing a water manicure, prepare all the necessary items and tools:

Several varnishes in contrasting colors (at least two);
needle, toothpick, thin brush, etc.;
water container;
scotch or greasy hand cream;
acetone;
plain water at room temperature.
As you can see, you really do not need any special equipment - everything you need is already in your home.

It is worth saying a few words about the quality of the varnish. For water manicure, a high-quality varnish that does not spread and dries quickly is not suitable. This is exactly the case when a cheap low-quality varnish from the market is much more preferable.

Water manicure at home step by step

Step 1

Prepare everything you need. Pour enough water, cool or room temperature, into a wide container. It is not recommended to use hot or even warm water - it can affect the drying of the varnish and the manicure will be ruined. Just dial cold water from the tap and place it in front of you.
Prepare some varnishes. You can first check how the varnishes spread by dropping a few drops into the water. The varnish should spread and cover the entire surface area of the water. Then the excess layer can be collected with a cotton swab.

Step 2
Prepare your nails. It is better to do 2-3 nails at a time - it will be faster. You can, of course, do one nail at a time, but it will take more time - but it will be better. Then for each nail you will need to prepare a new rainbow on the water from layers of varnish.
To protect the skin around the nail, you can use either tape, or oily hand cream, or in other ways. Read more!

The first way is with duct tape. Cut off a few strips of adhesive tape and stick it on the skin, surrounding the nail plate around the edges and top with it. In this case, the adhesive tape is simply removed after applying the manicure, and all excess is cleaned off with a cotton swab with nail polish remover.
- The second way is to use a greasy hand cream to protect the excess surface of the polish. Apply the cream around the nail plate, and after applying the varnish, simply wipe off the excess with a cotton swab - where the cream is, all the excess will be removed very easily. For a finer cleaning, you can use a cotton swab dipped in just water.

- The third way is innovative! You can use a special tool designed for this, which is popularly called "". Although this "thing" can be blue. We described it in more detail in one of the articles on the site.

- The fourth way is to cover the periungual space with PVA glue and let it dry. After all the procedures, the glue with the remnants of the varnish is easily separated from the skin.

Step 3
We drip one varnish onto the water, barely touching the brush (or not touching it at all), so as not to disturb the surface of the water. The polish will spread, creating a wide circle. Then, without delay, drip a drop of the next varnish, and so on until there is the required number of contrasting rings on the surface. You can use two varnishes, alternating them, or you can use up to a dozen multi-colored varnishes.
Step 4
We take a needle (brush, toothpick) and begin to draw flowers. We move either from the center to the edges, or from the edge to the center. You can do whatever drawing you like - it all depends on your tastes and imagination. There is one subtlety - wipe the needle with a napkin after each movement, because the varnish dries very quickly and the pattern can be disturbed by a dirty stick.

Step 4
You can do a water manicure both on clean legs and on already varnished ones. While the varnish is not dry, we dip the nail into it, directing it with a plate to the center of the color pattern on the water. When the layer of varnish is attached to the nail, remove all unnecessary around. Remove your finger from the water only when you remove all the remnants, otherwise you will spoil the beautiful drawing. As a rule, there is not much varnish left, and with a toothpick it rolls up very easily, and the excess must be removed from the bowl.
Step 5
Remove excess varnish from the skin, depending on the method that you have chosen to protect the periungual space from varnish.
Wait until the varnish dries, cover with a colorless coating.

Flaws:

  • high consumption of varnish
  • the inability to do a manicure on all nails at once

What is required for water manicure

  • clear nail polish
  • colored varnishes (from 2 pieces of different colors)
  • water tank
  • toothpick or orange stick
  • cool water
  • thin tape
  • cotton buds
  • nail polish remover

To make a manicure on the water turned out, the varnish must be liquid and not quick-drying.

How to make a water manicure

Step 1

Prepare your nails: do your usual manicure (trimmed, not trimmed), pay special attention to the cuticle, it should be completely removed. The nail plate should be smooth, then the water manicure will look perfect.
Apply a base on your nails - white varnish or varnish of one of the colors that you will use. On white varnish, the manicure will look brighter.
Wait until the coating dries, glue the fingers with adhesive tape so that only the nail is exposed.

Step 2

Pour water at room temperature (no more than 35 degrees) into the container. Many girls choose the temperature empirically - it didn’t work out at one temperature, they try another.
Drop a drop of varnish into the water, it should spread to the edges of the container. Drip from a height of no more than 2 cm, otherwise the drop will sink. In the center of the first drop, add another color polish, keep changing colors, 3-6 times.

Step 3

With a toothpick, create the pattern you want in the water (watch the video to understand how to do this). You can draw stars, flowers, spirals, or just colorful patterns by drawing a wand from the edges of the container to the center and vice versa. After each line drawn in water, wipe the stick with a cloth or cotton pad.

Remember: no more than 90 seconds should pass from the first drop to lowering your finger into the water, otherwise the varnish will dry completely.

Step 4

Quickly dip your finger into the water on the resulting pattern, use a toothpick to move the remaining varnish in the water away from the finger without removing it from the water. Gently remove your finger, remove the tape, and wipe off excess polish with a Q-tip soaked in nail polish remover.

Step 5

Repeat steps 2-4 for each finger. Fix the manicure with a transparent varnish, sealing the ends. When you learn how to quickly do such a manicure, you can dip several fingers at once, reducing the time spent on this process.

What might not work?

Drops of varnish do not spread in water
First, check the temperature of the water, experiment with it, find the optimal one for your varnishes.
Secondly, make sure you take liquid varnishes, thick or quick-drying ones are not suitable for water manicure.
If, when lowering your finger into the water, you touch the edges of the container and thereby lubricate the pattern,
use another container with wider rims or add more water.
Your water manicure is smudged
Perhaps you take your finger out of the water too quickly, hold it there longer. Carefully remove the remaining pattern in the water with a stick until the finger is removed.
You do not have time to transfer the drawing to the nail - the varnish in the water is covered with a crust.
Check the water temperature: the lower it is, the faster the varnish dries, add hot water.

The original combination of rainbow manicure and black and white water

Beautiful manicure can be done at home. Even those who do not know the art of painting can apply a beautiful drawing on the nails. The procedure takes a long time, but if it is carried out correctly, the result will justify all efforts.

  1. Sufficiently deep tank. You need to pour cold clean water into it. Pour in as much water as possible.
  2. Oily cream or tape. They will be required as a means of protecting the skin from the spread of varnish. These are optional devices, as some create this manicure without a protective base.
  3. Skewers, if you have a toothpick.
  4. Special preparation for removing varnish.
  5. Items for removing protruding parts of the coating.
  6. Multi-colored paints for nails. Do not use thickened or dried products. The more liquid (fresh) the varnish is, the better the product adheres to the surface. If desired, you can take not 3, but 4 or 5 shades. The richer the palette, the brighter the manicure looks.
  7. Transparent varnish, it is advisable to choose bright options that create a beautiful glossy finish.
  8. Base coat for manicure.

Step-by-step instruction

To make this simple and beautiful manicure at home, you should follow the sequence of actions.

Step 1. The nails adapt to cover the surface with a beautiful pattern. Old manicure should be completely removed with a special nail polish remover. Nails are trimmed and filed to achieve the desired shape. The cleaned and completely dry surface is covered with a transparent varnish that acts as a base.

Step 2 When the nails are fully adapted for painting, the cuticle surface should be limited from the spread of varnish. You will need tape. It is necessary to glue the area around the nail with adhesive tape at this stage of the procedure, since when the nails are painted, it will be almost impossible to do it yourself. If there is no desire to cover the skin with adhesive tape, you can use a greasy cream. You need to be careful with this tool. The cream should not fall on the nail plate, otherwise the varnish on this area will not be resistant.

Step 3 Pour cold water into a deep enough bowl. Its temperature should be optimal so that you can lower your hands there. Ice water or too hot water should not be used, as a liquid that is not at the optimum temperature can affect the poor fixing of the pattern or even cause damage to the overall pattern.

Step 4 Optimum shades of varnish are selected. The bottles open and drop into the water drop by drop. When each small dose is placed in water, it is necessary to wait for a few seconds for the product to spread through the water. In order to subsequently form an interesting motive, you need to drip at least 5 drops. Each subsequent drop is dosed from a varnish of a new color. Each drop of varnish should be lowered into the area of the previous one. Some varnishes do not spread well in water. To speed up this process, you should move the toothpick through the water at the edge of the dish with measured movements.

Step 5 When all the drops have completely spread over the liquid and settled, you can begin to form a pattern. Using a toothpick, you can draw clear lines on any part of the surface, as if dividing the area into fragments. The star pattern is popular. For its formation, it is necessary to outline the center point and draw peculiar rays from the middle to the edges of the circle. To make the outlines of a flower, you should draw lines in the reverse order, that is, from the edges to the center point.

If only one toothpick is used for all manipulations, it is necessary to constantly wipe it with a cotton pad. When working with a toothpick, you do not need to deepen it into the solution. It is necessary to carry out only on the surface of the varnish layer.

Step 6 When the drawing in a common dish is formed, you can transfer it to your own nails. It is necessary to lower your finger into the water, pointing it with the plate down. All fragments separated from the main layer of varnish must be collected with a toothpick. Now the finger can be pulled out. To get random, rather than predictable patterns, you need to dip your fingers into the water in a direction perpendicular to, and not parallel to, the water level. At first, only one finger should be processed, and with experience, both 2 and 3 fingers are successfully immersed in the solution at once.

Step 7 The adhesive tape covering the cuticle around the nail must be removed. It should be removed along with the remnants of varnish. If the protective coating was formed using a greasy cream, it must be carefully cleaned with a toothpick.

Step 8 It is necessary to apply the varnish on all the nails of each hand in the same way. It is not necessary to cover all nails with such a pattern. It is enough to process 1-2 fingers in this way, and the rest can be painted in one color or create a different pattern on them.

Step 9 Finally, a topcoat should be applied. A professional enhancer or a clear varnish with a sufficiently long service life is used. To create an imitation of a magical, fairy-tale pattern on your nails, you can decorate them with sparkles by choosing suitable places for this on an abstractly formed pattern. You can use rhinestones, pearls or cover the surface with shimmering varnish.

Possible mistakes when creating a manicure with water

If something does not work out, it is possible that the technology of the procedure is not followed correctly. Common Mistakes:

  1. Too small capacity or incorrect liquid temperature.
  2. Using a toothpick without cleaning, refusing to replace a cracked or overly soiled stick.
  3. Hardened varnish. If it is too viscous, a special agent must be used.
  4. Incomplete removal of excess varnish after lowering the finger into the water.

To make a beautiful manicure with water, you need to prepare all the necessary materials, choose the optimal shades of varnish in terms of color and follow the technology of the procedure. If all conditions are met, you will get a unique pattern on each nail. This manicure looks great on any nails. Creates great nail art for both long and short nails.
